Lara's personal list of favorite beauty products (no endorsement fees were received)

1. Lancome Définicils mascara
Everyone always talks about that Maybelline Great Lash one which I think is awful. Chanel is OK but this one is definitely best.

2. H2O+ Green Tea night cream
Now this I adore because I am quite sure it works. The summer of 2001 for me was full of not enough sleep, copious imbibing, and various other activities which do not enhance one's complexion. I bought a box of this cream at the beginning of the summer and would swear that my skin was actually better at the end of it. Amazing.

3. Biotherm Biocils Express Eye Makeup remover
Now this stuff is just great. I have tried a zillion eye makeup removers, and they all suck compared to this one. Occasionally difficult to find in the States, but worth the trouble.

4. Lipsticks from Shiseido
Well I believe this is a Japanese company, and probably the only thing Japanese I could ever wear considering they don't make any shoes or clothes in my size over there (shirt sleeves tend to be, if I'm lucky, slightly past the elbow, even in an extra large). The Shiseido lipsticks, however, are subtle but cool shades, long lasting, and somehow very tasteful.

5. Lipslicks from Cover Girl
This was a gift and idea from friend Kristina Cooper - these are lip glosses costing around $3 and they look great on top of your usual lipstick. Also, they are very easy to reapply with no mirror.

6. Pretty Much Anything From Shoppers Drug Mart Or Jean Coutu (Québec).
I am a big fan of Canadian drugstores. They have lots of their own products which are really good and super cheap. In fact, once I decided to load up, and got stopped at customs because my suitcase was so heavy. They opened it to find 30 bottles of shampoo and conditioner. They couldn't, of course, fine me because that is only about $40 USD worth. The officer did inform me, however, that it is indeed possible to buy shampoo in New York. "Yah, but not THIS shampoo!" said I. He seemed nonplussed.

7. MAC powder
I have had a terrible time in life finding anything which does not make me look orange. For anyone with an extremely light complexion like self; MAC (or Shiseido) seems to be the way to go. I have no idea why many other cosmetic companies insist that everyone should walk around with a pumpkin face. Even Chanel does not make a powder light enough - and I usually like Chanel stuff (whenever I can afford it).

8. MAC false eyelashes
Okay, I have only succeeded in this twice, but if you are going to do the false lash thing, these seem to be the most subtle and tasteful. It could be that I am very bad at this, because I have at times managed to either attach a lash to my forehead, or glue my eye shut, and then give up (always right before a concert...). Or, I have tried drugstore lashes and, not wishing to resemble Dame Edna, have taken them right back off. MAC seems to make these for everyone, and all tastes.
